What Google reviewers say about Smile Massage & Spa
You'd never guess that the pain relief ointment I brought would be needed now... I've been in Thailand for so many days, getting massages every day, but this is the only place where I've experienced a massage that actually hurt me. At first, when you're lying face down, the masseuse kneels on your feet and buttocks, using her weight to apply extra pressure. But this one knelt on your waist and above, and I heard a "smack" sound. I screamed in pain, and then my chest started hurting so badly I almost wanted to stop and go to the hospital. Later, the masseuse apologized and got off me, but even then I couldn't continue the back massage. Even a slight pressure above my waist made my brow furrow in pain, so I just had to massage my feet. Thankfully, after I turned onto my back, the chest pain gradually subsided, but it was still quite painful until I left, just not to the point of needing to go to the hospital. I really didn't expect to have my entire weight pressed on my back, and even get injured from it, needing to apply ointment...
Popped in after coffee next door, big mistake. No one at the entrance, had to explore upstairs like it was an escape room. Paid upfront (never a good sign). Did 1 hr foot massage, but the therapist seemed to be on energy-saving mode. Asked for more pressure, she was like, “This is the hardest I can go,” with a look that screamed “take it or leave it.” Basically got lightly patted for an hour. Good thing I didn’t go for 2 hours—would’ve felt like a hostage situation. Never again.
Fantastic experience, I came in for a neck and back massage as pulled a muscle or something. Nid, a massage therapist, found and targeted the right muscles and joints in my neck and upper back with just the right amount of pressure. The pain subsided by 80% immediately and was almost gone by next morning. It's not a 5-star luxury spa and doesn't bill itself as such, but delivers great massage in a tidy and clean setting. Definitely coming back, highly recommended.
