Women's Massage Center By Ex-Prisoner

Great place, clean, cool, and the women have wonderful hands. We tried the Thai massage today, August 25th, and it was fabulous.

A wonderful initiative and a really lovely experience. The massages were excellent and very effective, and the women were incredibly kind and welcoming. The prices are also very fair. I really appreciate the purpose behind this project and the opportunity it gives these women. Highly recommended !

DO NOT GO HERE. My money was stolen I am extremely sad that I have to write this review because I genuinely never expected something like this to happen to me. Please do not go here. I had a massage here at night when most of the staff had already left, leaving only myself and one female staff member in the shop. During the massage, she took my bag and placed it underneath the table inside a box. I trusted that my belongings were safe and thought nothing of it. As soon as I left the shop, I checked my bag and realised that all of my cash was gone. This cash was supposed to last me 3 months in Thailand. I was completely shocked and honestly could not believe this had just happened. Because I had no money left I was devastated and had to fly back home. I immediately returned and confronted the woman. What made the situation even more disturbing was that throughout the entire massage she had communicated with me in English. However, the moment I confronted her about my missing money, she suddenly acted as though she could not speak or understand English and responded only in Thai. She acted completely clueless and pretended she had no idea what I was talking about. She then called her boss and other staff members to come. I tried to explain to her boss despite being in a state of shock and tears, but the way the situation was handled was incredibly upsetting. Her boss wouldn’t even properly acknowledge or look my way while I was explaining what had happened. At that point, I felt completely helpless. They denied everything and accused me of lying and saying I will face consequences for lying. That was when I realised that this didn’t feel like the actions of just one individual who stole my money. From the way the situation was handled, I realised the entire shop was involved, or at the very least knew what had happened and chose to ignore it. Instead of trying to help me or take my concerns seriously, I was left feeling completely dismissed after having all of my cash stolen. I have reported what happened to the police and now seeing recent reviews I am extremely upset to discover that I was not the only person to have experienced a theft at this location. If only I had checked reviews before coming to this location, I would not be out pocket. As a young solo female traveller, this was absolutely devastating. I was alone in a foreign country and felt completely vulnerable and taken advantage of. I was in tears and in a state of shock. You trust a business with your personal belongings while receiving a service, your kind and your understanding and you try to support locals businesses and the feeling of having that trust completely violated is horrible. I had been really enjoying my time in Chiang Mai. It is genuinely heartbreaking that an experience like this has left me with such a horrible memory. It’s devastating that the actions of one place can ruin what had otherwise been such a wonderful experience and unfairly leave such a negative impression for the many kind and genuine people I’ve met here. Very horrific experience. I would never return here, and I strongly urge other travellers to be extremely careful with their belongings and seriously reconsider visiting this place. **One other detail I was not aware of before visiting: the workers here are actually ex cons who are being given an opportunity to return to the workforce. I didn’t think anything of the name at the time. However, after what happened to me, it is incredibly upsetting to feel that I was taken advantage of and then accused of lying when I confronted them about my missing money. I believe people deserve second chances, but that trust should never be abused. If someone has been given an opportunity to rebuild their life and re enter the workforce, the last thing customers should experience is theft or feel unsafe. It is not an excuse and is extremely unacceptable.
