A hot, humid dry sauna and a steam sauna with herbal ingredients! There were no no-smoking posters posted inside the building, so smoking may be allowed. But there may be separate smoking and non-smoking areas. Admission fee: 220 baht. Sauna Area: ★★★★☆ Overall Facilities: ★★★★ ◆Dry Sauna Self-loyly and tea-loyly are allowed. Feels hot and humid, about 95 degrees? ◆Steam Sauna The scent of lemongrass was strong, but there was also a fair bit of ginger mixed in. Breathing in was a bit spicy, lol. It felt a bit stinging. However, the second steam session wasn't too painful, so maybe the herbs had just been added for the first session. The temperature didn't feel that high, maybe just under 60 degrees. The herbal steam sauna is great! ◆Cold Bath Cold bath. It was listed as 14 degrees, but it felt like about 15.5 degrees. It's a little cloudy, but it's still pretty good for a Bangkok sauna. Good. ◆Open-air bathing There's no open-air bathing, just indoor bathing, but it feels just like a typical Bangkok sauna. It's an open gymnasium-like space with a bathtub, sauna hut, and plenty of resting chairs. There are also plenty of bed chairs, so it's great for lying down. However, this isn't even a non-smoking area, so people smoke inside the building. However, the smell isn't too noticeable in the bed chair area. (There are no ashtrays, so maybe they separate the smoking and non-smoking areas?) ◆Food & Drinks All-you-can-drink tea and all-you-can-eat watermelon. Meals start at around 90 baht. ◆Other ・Massages are reasonably priced at 200 baht per hour. ・There's a naughty corner, but don't be intimidated.
I visited almost as soon as they opened. After paying the 220 baht fee at the reception, I went to the locker room. There, I changed into the provided shorts and entered the sauna in them. Even though it was right after opening, the sauna was already perfectly hot. The huge sauna, which can fit 30 people, has three machines. It's set hotter than Japanese saunas, and I started sweating immediately. The cold plunge pool is a pool, and it's a refreshing 17°C. There's also an indoor bath at 44°C. Thai saunas have very well-equipped outdoor relaxation spaces, like a beach hut or poolside. After coming out of the sauna, I plunged into the cold plunge pool! → It was amazing to be able to drink fruit and cold tea at a table while still soaking wet. The herbal mist sauna wasn't that hot, but it had a nice citrus scent. Thailand has a stronger sauna culture than Japan. The entrance fee includes tea and fruit. There's also a gym space next to the outdoor relaxation area that seems to be freely available. Relaxing in the outdoor relaxation area, not just the sauna itself, is the Thai sauna style. The outdoor bathing area here is not smoke-free. Several staff members are constantly patrolling, changing the tea and taking care of guests. Thai sauna culture is the best!
I stopped by on the last day of my trip to unwind and prepare for my departure. I was originally planning to go back to Silom Sauna, which I visited on the first day, but I made a last-minute change to Carnation Sauna because it was closer to my accommodation. The system is almost identical to Silom Sauna, but the space is larger. The sauna area, cold plunge pool, hot tub, and relaxation room are all more spacious. While Silom Sauna has a swimming pool, Carnation Sauna does not, though its cold plunge pool is much larger. The price was the same at 250 baht. The dry sauna temperature at Silom Sauna is hotter. Although Carnation Sauna seems slightly better in terms of facilities and size, if you need a sauna, it is probably better to just go to the one near your accommodation rather than going out of your way to find it. I was satisfied with Silom Sauna, but I was satisfied here as well. I intend to visit again on my next trip to Bangkok. A hot sauna in hot Bangkok! It might seem like an unlikely combination, but it was satisfying for relieving fatigue. If you check Google Maps for a less crowded time to go, you will likely be able to relax and unwind much more leisurely.
