What Google reviewers say about Dao massage
Before leaving Bangkok, I wanted to unwind and relax, so I read some positive reviews online. However, I was very disappointed. I booked a 2-hour Thai massage. If you can't provide 2 hours of massage, you shouldn't accept the order. Find a qualified masseuse instead! She was very attentive for the first hour, but then she started slacking off and just groping, offering no relief whatsoever. When massaging my feet, she only moved my body back and forth; her hands barely applied any pressure. I was exhausted, having walked almost 20 minutes to get here for a massage, and I didn't feel any relief. Because she was so lazy, I directly told her to focus on these areas (I pointed out the areas I needed more pressure on myself and repeatedly asked her to apply more pressure). During the foot massage, she pulled my toes 4 times in 5 minutes??? And the head massage—I don't know where she was massaging. It wasn't my temples; she was massaging a completely non-acupoint, and she just groped. I had to tell her where to massage my head myself, and she would just touch it a couple of times and then move back to where she felt nothing. Finally, she even pulled my hair?! It's ridiculous. They were massaging my head, and then they kept pulling my hair upwards – were they trying to rip it off?! They even went to the bathroom halfway through, and I don't even want to talk about that. I paid for a two-hour Thai massage, but the service I received was only discounted, and then discounted again. I'm really unhappy.
This place is located in between two restaurants and just few steps away from our hotel in Sukhumvit. We thought of giving it a go since we were too lazy to walk down the street for something else. The first point of contact was already not so good because when we entered the place, the receptionist didn't greet us or even smile, and went straight ahead with "What massage you want?". After we chose the massages we wanted, we were being seated down to begin with the 30mins foot massage first. The masseurs were busy talking to one another and apparently they forgot to exert enough strength. I felt like my foot was being "caressed" instead of "massaged" so we voiced out to the masseurs that we'd like it "harder". One of them started mumbling to another in Thai and apparently her facial expression showed that she's very unhappy. While the masseur that was massaging me, used all the strength she could and when I couldn't hold it back any longer, I gave out an "ouch" to her and she turned to the other masseur and laughed. The 60mins Thai Body Massage was okay, not very consistent but it got slightly better than the 30mins foot massage. I don't think we'll wanna patronize this place again.
On April 25th, two couples went for a herbal massage. One of the staff members, who spoke Chinese, was particularly unpleasant. We initially asked if we could have two separate rooms, and she agreed, but then arranged for us to share a room with four people. There was a curtain, and I specifically asked them to close it. However, halfway through the massage, I discovered they had all the curtains open, leaving us with absolutely no privacy – it was incredibly awkward. The initial massage was fine, and the technique was good. But after switching to herbal massage, I burned the sole of my foot. I told them, and she just said it was for my own good. Then, for the next half hour, she deliberately burned me and even joined the others in laughing at my reaction. It was really infuriating! 😡 Because we were in the same room, another friend had the exact same experience (even though they were lying down, we could still hear the very unfriendly laughter). Anyone considering going should think twice!
